Janora McDuffie
Actress, and Voiceover Artist
Janora McDuffie is a dynamic actress, acclaimed voiceover artist, and sought-after speaker whose career spans television, film, and the live stage. Born and raised in Durham, North Carolina, Janora brings warmth, wit, and authenticity to every performance—whether on camera, behind the mic, or in front of an audience.
After graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as a proud Morehead-Cain Scholar, Janora began her professional journey as a consultant for Cap Gemini Ernst & Young in Atlanta. But the pull of passion was stronger than the comfort of corporate life, and she soon left the business world to pursue her Hollywood dream.
As the live announcer for the 94th Academy Awards, Janora made history as the first Black woman to ever live announce the Oscars. Her distinctive sound and dynamic presence have also been featured in national campaigns for major brands, hit video games, and television promos. On screen, audiences recognize her from recurring roles on Grey’s Anatomy and guest appearances on shows like NCIS, This Is Us, and Truth Be Told.
Janora has built a reputation not only as a performer but as a storyteller who uplifts and connects. Her critically acclaimed one-woman show, Earth, Wind & Car Fire, traces her journey from Atlanta to Los Angeles and explores themes of faith, identity, and resilience.
A colon cancer survivor, Janora speaks openly about her experience to inspire others to face life’s challenges with courage and grace. She has also become a passionate voice for the importance of early detection. Through her keynotes and performances, she shares her story as proof that purpose and joy can emerge from even the most unexpected detours.
Now based in Los Angeles, Janora continues to expand her creative and motivational reach—on stage, on screen, and behind the microphone—with one mission at heart: to move, uplift, and remind others that their stories matter.
